A kind of summary of modeling episodes to 'catch up' a bit, beginning with the Albatros D.Va

Occurred to me that I have not been keeping up with this blog as much as I would like to. So, to that end, I'm posting some photographs of models, and modeling stuff, that has occurred since my last post. I intend to return and flesh these out with some commentary later on. I'll admit to being pretty caught up in the final re-writes and edits of my historical novel, "The Q Fragments". I've done that now and plan to get it back into distribution via Amazon Kindle, and Amazon books within the next week or so.

Now, on to modeling....

Wingnuts Wings Albatros D.Va

Finished with Tamiya X-18 and a light gray dry brush

Finished Mercedes 160 hp engine

Oil paint
Kinda, sorta done... Note, I broke the seat rails and had to use styrene rod.

All 'out of the box' except for engine wiring.

My rigging method, with monofilament for strength.

Mono (0.005"), twisted wire 'eyes', steel tube sections.

Wingnut Wings Roland D.VIa

I am currently working on the Roland D.VIa kit. I will probably do Emil Koch's black and white striped scheme, although I have't quite decided. I'm at the stage where I can begin painting, so this is a small hold up.

Some photos of the build progress. I detailed the 200 bhp Mercedes engine with plugs, ignition wiring and paint detail. The next Wingnut Wings Mercedes will get the same treatment along with additional plumbing.

Cockpit framing, flight componenets, MG ammo feeds and empty belt bin, fuel tank and engine mounted in the bay.

Making sure of a tight fit.

Fuselage closed. Ready for paint after drilling out rigging and control wire points.
